Bad with the Motorcycle's with the funeral. These cops are the worst.

I recently got pulled over for speeding.. I was embarrassed for being forgetful of how fast I was going. Prior to getting pulled over my husband and I made plans to go to the Washington County fair. We weren't able to enter the fair grounds because we didn't have $3 cash. We decided that it wasn't worth going to get cash and going all the way back to the fair. We headed home, frustrated at the situation. On Hurricane state road is where I got pulled over. The Police Officer clocked me in going 15 over the speed limit. I could hardly speak to the officer due to my tears so my husband explained our situation to him, and how sorry we were for not being focused on our speed. The officer took my license and did his thing. He returned to our car with my license, and with my license was a 5 dollar bill. I was speechless. The officer said, "take this and go have fun at the fair, seriously or I'm going to start crying." I'll never forget this experience. The compassion he had towards us was touching. I hope that kindness is returned to him in a big way.

Officers come up with the stupidest reasons to give visitors a ticket. One officer stopped me and gave me a ticket for driving without my lights on. Said it is because my headlights are to close to the ground. I was driving a unmodified sports car. I took the ticket into the small police "Court house" the woman yelled at me called me liar and said I can not contest it without proof.

This town is nothing more than a Mormon version of the Mississippi speed trap. Be careful coming into town from the west on highway 9. One sloppy looking officer, K. Thompson, looks like the Pillsbury doughboy in blue, sits behind a old house and rips off cars that don't slow fast enough. I think he is a reserve or some other wannabe, because he delivers a big lecture along with writing the ticket which is not even a real ticket, just give him the $50 fine and be on your way.

Hurricane Police Department are great. The ones I know personally as good friends, as well as the 10+ that live in my neighborhood are all great men. I hold them in high regard. They do so much for us here in Hurricane/La Verkin. Of course out of the 30+ officers we have I know a couple that rub me the wrong way, but I don't know those ones personally either. I got in a wreck turning out of Ace Hardware off of State St. and I was in shock and only some minor injuries, but the police officer who was on call and took the report was so kind and professional. He was very helpful where I was in shock and crying. We have a great Police Dept. and I appreciate all they do for us in the community. but yeah... don't speed, they're everywhere in this town, its not worth it haha!
