Pros: Nice campsites (we stayed in the West campground), water / electric / septic, picnic table with cover. Beautiful views. Dog friendly.
I love the red sand color, my kids stay in the water all day. It's pretty clear, my boy started diving for things here.
During the week it is so quiet and beautiful here. During migratory season it's an amazing place to bird watch. Fall, Winter and Spring are the best times to come. Summer too hot.
Cons: Gate shut between 9pm & 6am so no entering or leaving. No enforcement of park rules so we were kept up quite late by the loud partiers next door & the OHV's roaring around.
We love this place, great sand and not crowded on weekdays. We were one of two cars on most weekdays. Don't be deterred by the swimmers itch, if you stay in water that circulates better you don't have a problem. We stayed away from the beach near the rental place on the south end and were fine this year.
So much fun! The camp ground is clean and well maintained. No shade though and hot in the summer. We usually visit in the fall and winter. Just visited with our UTV and had a blast. Wish we had stayed longer! Be careful as it can get busy which brings out the crazies. People zipping around in their atvs going really fast and not always looking where they are going.
Very nice place - a good amount of room between RV sites, so you feel like you have some privacy. No trees, tho, so no shade, and you can see the other visitors. We walked along the dam, and on some dirt roads thru some adjacent undeveloped land. Can be windy and cold - but in a good way :-)
